I joined a pilgrimage trip to Shikoku, Japan organised by a Buddhist charity organisation in Hong Kong in December 2012. When I discovered it would be organising a pilgrimage tour to Sri Lanka on December 1 – 5, I decided to join after my African trip. After having spent 18 days in Egypt, we crossed the border into Sudan (also known as North Sudan). Labelled as a state sponsor of terrorism and being subject to sanction by the US, Sudan is not a destination for the faint-hearted tourists. But the country, home to many ancient civilisations and land of contrast, is amazing. I have seen more pyramids in Sudan than in Egypt. Read more

Egypt: Cairo October 19 – 21, 2016
I visited Cairo and Luxor on my first visit to Egypt in 1979. On my second visit, I spent a couple of days in a resort in Hurguada, Red Sea and a day in Cairo after an organised tour to Morocco in the late 1990s. My two fleeting visits have only given me a taste of this ancient civilisation and I always want to return.
