South America was not on my 2017 travel plan till I discovered a possible doable hike to Ojos del Salado (over 6000m) in Chile. I found a 12-day hike with Aventurismo Expediciones from March 6 to 17. As I had to be back to Hong Kong in early April, I could only make a 36-day trip to Chile and Argentina with a brief stop in the UK on my way to Chile. Read more

I climbed Mt. Fuji last August and had no plan to return in 2016 until I learnt about an opera performance “Monk Ganjin Sailing East” in Kyoto on December 28. My friend TIAN Hao Jiang would be playing the role of Ganjin. After seeing the superb performance, I spent a week visiting several World Heritage temples in Nara and Shinto shrines in Kumano Sanzan and Ise in Kii Peninsula. Read more

Spending three months on the road is nothing new. But my three-month trip beginning in Elba, Italy on September 10 and ending in Sri Lanka on December 9, 2016 is the best and most memorable three-month trip I have ever had. Read more
